A Fool’s Odyssey

Odissea da Matto: la sottile arte del dialogo interiore. Solo exhibition at Libreria Libri Liberi, Via San Gallo 25r, Florence. Opening on Friday 19 April 2024.

Words are a powerful way to express our thoughts, yet we are trapped within the boundaries of language. Besides words there is a subtler way of telling stories — a quiet conversation with oneself. For centuries people spoke to their inner selves through dreams, reading unspoken messages in the shapes of clouds.

In Italo Calvino’s The Castle of Crossed Destinies the characters lose their voices, and their stories unfold through tarot cards. The illustrations in the exhibition are a gentle reminder of the limitless universe inside each of us: look at the clouds, write down your dreams, lay out the cards — and enter into a dialogue with yourself.
