Twenty years of letters (1967–1987) between the Georgian linguist Akaki Shanidze and the German Caucasiologist Winfried Boeder, with a memoir by Mzekala Shanidze and a word of thanks from Doris Boeder.

The design keeps the letters as they are — handwritten and typed pages, envelopes, telegrams and postcards — beside the transcribed text, with photographs of the two scholars and of the places they wrote about. The cover gathers the envelopes and stamps on a warm grey ground.
